Diana Marcella - Relationship Counselling Adelaide
My Vocation
“Aside from my family, my work as a Psychotherapist is the most meaningful part of my life. Helping couples reconnect, repair, and rebuild—and guiding individuals through their unique challenges—brings me deep fulfillment. My commitment is to provide compassionate, high-quality care to every client I work with.”
My Background and Qualifications
Counselling isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am. It’s my vocation, and I am deeply committed to providing the highest standard of professional and ethical care.
My method of counselling Adelaide couples has resulted in real, lasting, change in hundreds of relationships. However apart from marriage counselling and couples counselling, I help individuals with their relationships, be it with partners, family, work collegues, or themselves.
With over 35 years in the helping profession and more than 25 years as a Registered Clinical Counsellor/Psychotherapist, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals and couples through life’s challenges. I hold a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Counselling as well as a Bachelor in Counselling.
I am a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist and a Certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician, bringing specialized expertise to my work. Additionally, I am a Registered Clinical Member of PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia).
Committed to ongoing learning, I engage in yearly professional development to stay at the forefront of the latest research, techniques, and best practices in the field.
Why Work with Me?
Extensive Expertise & Experience
Qualifications matter, but character is key. I bring over three decades of experience, combined with warmth, compassion, and a genuine investment in your well-being. I offer compassionate and confidential counselling Adelaide locals can trust.
Flexible & Accessible
I understand that when you need support, timing is crucial. I offer priority appointments in my booking system, and if nothing suits, reach out—I’ll do my best to see you at a time that works, whether that’s evenings, weekends, in person, or over the phone.
Pragmatic & Results-Oriented
Therapy should be effective, not endless. My approach focuses on meaningful change in as few sessions as possible, ensuring that you feel progress and lasting results.
Highly Specialised
I have extensive training and experience in key areas, including Surviving Infidelity, Narcissistic Abuse Recovery, marriage counselling, toxic relationship counselling, and grief counselling. I am also an EAP counsellor and an EAP private consultant so can provide targeted and effective support for employees.
My Theraputic Approach
My approach is integrative, practical, and transformative. I combine:
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and Relational Life Therapy (RLT) to help couples break unhealthy patterns, rebuild trust, and foster lasting intimacy.
- Insights from Stan Tatkin’s PACT model, integrating attachment theory, neuroscience, and emotional regulation.
- Strategies from Esther Perel for navigating infidelity, helping couples rebuild trust and redefine intimacy.
- The work of Dr. Ramani to support survivors of narcissistic abuse, providing practical tools for healing and reclaiming personal strength.
I am strengths-based and resilience-focused, believing in direct, compassionate guidance to help couples and individuals achieve meaningful transformation.
Client Experience

“Diana’s approach was exactly what I needed—no magic wand, just real tools for healing. We worked through Women Who Love Too Much and explored inner child meditation, which was incredibly powerful. But the game-changer for me was Facing Love Addiction by Pia Mellody. It’s my go-to whenever old patterns resurface, though I find I need it less and less these days!”
My Commitment to You
Confidentiality & Privacy
Privacy and confidentiality are essential in therapy, creating a safe space for open and honest conversations. As a Psychotherapist, I am both ethically and legally bound to protect your personal information. This foundation of trust allows you to explore challenges without fear of judgment or disclosure, fostering genuine healing and growth.
Professional Ethics
I adhere to the highest ethical standards set by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). These principles prioritise client confidentiality and safeguard your right to privacy, ensuring a secure and trustworthy counselling experience.
Legal Compliance
I fully comply with Australian confidentiality laws, including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Your personal information and counselling records are securely protected at all times.
Informed Consent: Transparency & Trust
Informed consent is a fundamental ethical and legal requirement in counselling. It ensures that you fully understand your rights, the counselling process, and any potential limitations before beginning therapy. This empowers you to make an informed decision about your participation.
By upholding informed consent, I create a transparent, ethical, and client-centred counselling experience—one where you feel safe, respected, and empowered throughout our work together.
A Safe & Supportive Environment
Counselling should be a space where you feel secure, heard, and valued. I provide a confidential, non-judgmental environment where you can express yourself freely. My commitment is to foster trust, open communication, and psychological safety, ensuring you feel fully supported every step of the way.
